HAUL: Unboxing Beauty Box from ALTHEA.KR

Hello, everyone!!! I am finally back to my blog! How was New Year? 😀

Just like the tile above stated, today I’m gonna share with you about my recent online shopping experience with this website called Althea.kr.

Have you heard about this new beauty trend called K-beauty? I don’t know about you, but K-beauty is something really hot right now in Malaysia. Almost every girl wants to have bright and flawless skin like Song Hye Kyo, or Girls’ Generation’s Yoona.

While everyone know K-beauty is awesome, but——- there are 2 major problems

Number one, not every K-product is available in Malaysia. Brands like Too Cool For School, IOPE, Innisfree, etc are quite hard to find.

Number two, not every K-product available in Malaysia is affordable. Like seriously, even Etude House is not cheap in Malaysia, okay? Let alone brands like Laneige or 3CE. So it’s like, if you don’t have extra money in your pocket, don’t even think about skincare or cosmetics!

But my fellow Malaysians, worry no more!!! Because thanks to the convenience of online shopping, we can all have authentic and affordable Korean beauty products delivered all the way from Korea to our doorsteps!!!

Exciting, right?

What’s more exciting is that Althea is giving MYR 15 worth of credit points to all the new sign ups!!! They are even offering free shipping if you spent more than MYR 150 in a single receipt!!! Say what?!!!!

You think that delivery from Korea is gonna take a really long period? Just wait until I finish my story.

This is the tracking history of my order. I placed my order on NYE and Althea processed my order on 4th January because 1st January was public holiday while 2nd and 3rd January were weekend. My parcel was already in Malaysia on Friday (8th January) and I received my parcel this morning around 11am. In other words, it only took 5 working days to deliver the parcel from Korea to my doorstep!!!! Even faster than ordering from TaoBao!!!!!

*Delivery delayed on Saturday because Skynet only works until 1pm on Saturdays. I suppose they had a lot of parcels and documents to be delivered on that day 🙂

You think by the time those fragile little products arrive, they will all be broken? You will have to see me unboxing the beauty boxes I received this morning!!!

As you can see, the beauty boxes are packed in a hot pink plastic cover.

The beauty boxes are wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap!!!

Not only are they offering free shipping from Korea, they accept unconditional return within 30 days too!!!! How great is that?

Let’s see what’s inside the first beauty box. Can you believe each product is bubble wrapped?! And to be honest, this is my first time seeing my orders being carefully wrapped and packed!!!

This is the second beauty box. And I got free gift!!!!! Wow!!!

Did I say Althea offers better prices compares to other websites or the retail prices?

Awesome, right?

Did I mention about their customer service department?

Here’s the story. That night I when I was supposed to make the payment, the internet connection at my home just stopped working. Since I couldn’t make the payment, my first order wasn’t processed and got cancelled. It was okay, but then I realized that my credit points was deducted as well. So, I sent them an email, to explain my situation and crossing my fingers they will give me my credit points back.

Here’s the thing, if you are an experienced online shopper, you will probably know that some online store takes really long to get back to their customers. Because of that, I really did not expect Althea will reply my email the next day. But guess what? I received a feedback from this customer service guy named Daniel the next morning and credited the credit points back into my account. Talk about efficiency, how cool is that?!

I don’t know about you, but I know I’m definitely going to shop more with Althea in the future!!!

Stay tuned and I’ll talk to you in my next post!

Have a good day 🙂

A Simple Christmas

“O Holy Night
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth
Long lay the world in sin and e’er pining
‘Til He appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”

This is the Christmas carol we all know.

This year’s Christmas is really different. Why? Because I’m having fever, running nose and coughing. I’m basically a walking germs spreader. So no crazy Christmas celebration this year.

But don’t feel sorry for me 🙂

Exactly 2 weeks ago, before I departed to S’pore, I had a to-do list in mind. I remember I told myself to take tons of photos with those beautiful Christmas decorations, have a crazy shopping spree in Sephora, buy clothes, have awesome meals, etc

Don’t laugh! I was really holiday-deprived and I wanted to kind of compensate myself because I had a not-so-fabulous birthday back in November.

But guess what? I ended up doing nothing. I tried to shop in Sephora, because I really wanted one of those Benefit Holiday Gift Sets. But then when I was about to choose one, I realized that I didn’t actually any of those. Gosh! I can’t even finish my cosmetics, and my makeup drawers were all full.

When I was on my way back here, I was kind of frustrated, because I didn’t do anything worth-blogging nor Instagram worthy. All I was thinking was that, “Jasmine, you are going to have a crappy Christmas!!!” And what’s worse? I started to feel feverish!

Fast forward to just now, after dinner. While I was sitting in the dining room, self-pitying, my parents were discussing about the house visitation and food distribution they are doing tomorrow morning.

After listening to their conversations, and I was reminded again the true Christmas spirit.

Christmas is never about Christmas trees, ornaments, fancy meal, shopping and Instagramming.

As much as I love shopping, it shouldn’t be my life’s first priority.  I took shopping so seriously that I almost forgotten the true meaning of Christmas.

Jesus came to this world to give us faith, hope and love.

It’s true that I miss my friends, and I miss our Christmas-New Year dinner tradition. But it shouldn’t be the thing that hinder me from recognizing the blessings God has showered me.

It’s only 6 days to the year of  2016.

Here are a few things I’m thankful for:

  1. I got to spend almost all the important festivals with my family.
  2. I had the opportunity to be there and held my great-grandmother’s hand when she breathed her last breath.
  3. My study loan was paid.
  4. I travelled with my mom 3 times in one year.
  5. My loving and understanding parents.
  6. I’m debt-free.
  7. I haven’t lost my voice yet!!!
  8. My friends in Paris were and are safe!
  9. Good weather, no flood!
  10. Jesus loves me for who I am.

I think I’m going to join my parents tomorrow morning.Hopefully the nasty flu will be gone when I wake up in the morning 🙂

So this is my very simple Christmas. What’s your Christmas plan?

Blessed Christmas, everyone!

Secret sisters holiday gift exchange?!

Again, my blog was abandoned, again, by me, the very owner and writer of this blog.

Forgive me for my poor time management.

I had been meaning to update my blog since last month, but then my great-grandmother was admitted to the hospital because her eye got infected, not long after she was switched to the ICU because she fell down and roughly a week after she passed away at home after we decided to bring her home.

October was indeed a busy month.

The good news is, Christmas is just a few weeks away. And just when I thought I won’t have the chance to go for Christmas shopping this year, I saw my friend, Faith posted this really interesting post on Facebook.

Screen Shot 2015-11-06 at 11.09.27 PM

Of course I joined!!!  Only because I was bored and also it kind of reminded me of the book, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants for no apparent reason. 😛

It’s basically like secret Santa, you will never know from whom you will receive your presents, and you will probably be assigned to send present to someone you don’t know.

So Faith sent me the message, and guess what, I’ll have to go gift shopping for a girl who lives in Virginia!!!!! It’s like another side of the globe!

By far I have only 2 friends responded to my post. I need another 4, but I don’t think it will happen. I don’t have many friends, and the friends I know are highly unlikely to spend money to buy gift for someone they don’t even know.

We shall see.

Have you joined this kind of secret gift exchange game before? Please share your experience at below, I’d love to read them 🙂

Stay tuned!

Unbox FujiFilm Instax Mini 8!!!!

Happy November, everyone!!!!!

In case you didn’t know, November is my birthday month!!! And I am not afraid to admit that I am one of those people who really love celebrating birthday. I got super super super excited when October ended. Even though I know for a fact that this November is gonna be a very busy month for me. In fact, the past week was already very hectic and stressful. I am really happy and proud that I finished all the works before the deadline.

So when I was busy working in my office, I kept telling myself that I would definitely reward myself with something big and something I’ve been thinking for a very very long time. And I thought of Instax Mini 8 instantly.

I had been thinking and thinking whether I should get the camera since  2 years ago. I remember when a Korean tourist asked me to take a polaroid photo for her and her friends using her instant camera in KLCC, I told myself that I was gonna get one but I always hesitated because of the price of the films.

But now that I’ve started working and it’s my birthday month and I hadn’t actually get myself something fancy in the past few years, I decided it was time to spurge a little!

At first I thought of getting one online, because I saw the price in one of the retailers and the price was around MYR350. The camera is only MYR182 on Lazada.Com. I did some research about the website and I found out that a lot of people are giving the website bad reviews. Some people made the payment but they just never receive the things they ordered, or they got the fake one. And then I found out this website called iPmart.Com which is also selling the camera at MYR189, which was really affordable too. But I just had this uncomfortable feeling in my stomach telling me not to get one online. Maybe I was just too scared. I’ve bought things like clothes, cosmetics, accessories online but I’m just not comfortable with buying electronic gadgets online.

Okay, so now I’m gonna show you the camera I bought yesterday from a photography shop.

It is the FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 Gift Pack!!!

It includes one Instax Mini 8 Camera, 3 packs of films and one 2015 calendar. There are only 2 packs of films in the photo because I already inserted one pack in the camera.

And that’s the camera!!  I bought the yellow one. There are pink, yellow, blue, white and black. I think there are 2 new colors (Raspberry and Grape) coming out, but I’m not sure when will it be available in the market in Malaysia.

This is how it looks like when it’s turned on. See the small button at the side of the lens, that’s the ‘on’ button. There’s no ‘off’ button, you just have to gently push the lens back and it’s off.

As you can see, this is the dial where you can set the aperture. There are 5 modes, including indoor, cloudy, outdoor, sunny and hi-key. The camera itself will sense the lighting of the ambient and it’ll tell you which mode to choose. If you want a really bright photo, you can just choose hi-key.

The number indicates the amount of films you have. And I have 9 left 🙂

This is the calender included in the gift pack. And I put on the first polaroid I took using the Instax Mini 8 camera. I think I should probably decorate the photo a little.

This is my first camera and I really love it! This is probably not as good as a DSLR, but what I like about this camera is that I can capture a joyous moment and I can instantly have the photo in my hand. With all the photos I’ve taken, I can make a scrapbook or I can just put them on my notice board. And looking at a polaroid just reminds of the days when my father used to take photos for all of us using his old film camera. Seeing a polaroid photo is so nostalgic! I think this is a fun camera for documenting life vintage style.

If you are thinking of getting one, you should know that it probably won’t capture some super high quality photos like the DSLR does, and every photo you take has a price, it needs films to work. This is also why I won’t use it to take photos all the time. I will probably only use it to capture the moments I truly want to preserve.

So, what do you think?

Homemade Facial Mask + Facial Cleanser & others

As I’ve mentioned in my previous post, I am now trying my very best to make time for blogging and experimenting. And honestly, this is the best way for me to relax my mind 🙂

I am currently learning to make facial mask and facial cleanser using all edible ingredients such as yogurt, milk, honey, oats, fruits, etc.. And I thought should share how I made them and some of my thoughts about the results.

It all started few days ago I unintentionally bought an almost expired plain yogurt from the Dutch Lady’s truck that came to my office building. The reason I bought that yogurt was simply because it was really cheap (only MYR 1) and I thought it was the best deal I probably wouldn’t get from any supermarket or grocery stores. I went back to the office and only realized that the expiry date was only 3 days away. So I figured I might as well try the homemade yogurt mask that I had been dying to try since I was in high school.

So the facial mask I tried was really easy to make. It only consists of 2 ingredients, including plain yogurt and orange juice.

I mixed 4 teapoons of yogurt and 1 orange together and I just massage the “Orange Yogurt” all over my face and waited for around 20 minutes and washed.

At first I thought my face would be all sticky and I would have to wash my face with facial cleanser, but to my surprise, it was not sticky nor dirty at all. It felt clean and I didn’t have to wash my face with facial cleanser afterwards, I just proceed to the moisturisng part like how I usually do.

The reason why I was using orange juice was because orange has milder citrus acid, which makes it more skin-friendly. Orange is also known as a very good source of Vitamin C, which helps improving skin texture and color, and it also helps to reduce dark spots and blemishes. Plus, it smells really good!

I have to say this is really good and I’m shocked at the fact that the orange juice actually gives my skin an instant glow! I’ve read from somewhere that orange helps to reduce oil from the skin. How good is that?!

Bonus point: You can just finish the yogurt by drinking them if you couldn’t use all of it on your face 😛

The second one is Oatmeal+Milk+Honey facial cleanser.

It may looks ugly and messy, but I promise it’s very good!

For this facial cleanser, I mixed 2 tablespoons of oats, 2 tablespoons of milk and 1 teaspoon of honey together. You can the texture by adjusting the portion of the oatmeal and milk accordingly.

Oatmeal can be used as facial scrubs because it helps exfoliating skin and it absorbs and removes the dirts and impurities from skin surface. Plus, it also sooth dry and itchy skin, because it’s so gentle, it’s perfect even for sensitive skin! Normally, I really hate using facial scrubs, because it hurts and my skin always became very sensitive for a few days. But with oatmeal, my skin felt soft and hydrated. While honey and milk are not only moisturising, but also helps reducing blemishes, improving skin texture and keeping it healthy and glowing.

I think the only that bugs me is the fact that my face smelt like breakfast afterwards.

I am not ditching the regular facial cleanser, but I am going to use this edible facial cleanser at least three times a week. It’s not because that I’m too afraid of my skin ageing, but I think my skin needs some extra vitamins and especially moisturisation! Working in an air-conditioned office is not fun (for skin) at all!! It feels like the air-cond is always robbing my skin and hair of its moisture! So if I don’t start taking good care of my skin, I’d probably look like 52 by the time I reach my 25 ><

I also heard that egg yolk, mayonnaise and yogurt are some pretty awesome ingredients for hair care too. I might try making some edible hair mask next time, but I’m afraid that the egg yolk might makes my hair smelly.

Why am I experimenting edible skin care ingredients?

One the of the many reasons is definitely because it’s very budget friendly! Let’s be realistic, most of the very effective products are not very budget friendly. Take facial mask for example, even the cheapest one in Malaysia is around MYR 6 to 7 per sheet. Of course it doesn’t sound expensive if you were only buying one sheet; but truthfully, you can’t really expect some significant result with only one sheet of facial mask. Skin caring is a long term thing, we have our skin care routine every morning and every night, we might want to use some facial mask 3 or 4 times a week. So you do the maths, is that still really budget friendly?

For people like us, having stable job, earning decent salary, it is no big deal about going salon, buying cosmetics or even enjoy a spa treatment. But what about students or people who have lower salary? I used to be a student, and I always remember how difficult it was for me to decide whether I should save or splurge.

And to be frank, I can’t afford Shiseido or Origins even though I know for a fact that those products are really awesome. So since the natural ingredients can do such a great job, so why not? There’s no harm experimenting new things. And I love doing these sort of experiments!

Do share if you tried and also please let me know if you have some awesome “recipe” too!  Sharing is caring ❤
